A Movie Goers Guide to the South African Film and Publication Board Ratings

If films are age-restricted, it means that they are legally restricted for all children under the specified age, but advisory for children of and above the specified age.

Film Rating (A) All Ages

This film contains material that is suitable for ALL ages.

Film Rating (7-9 PG)

This film is not suitable for children under the age of 7. Children from the ages of 7-9 years may not be allowed to watch a film classified 7-9 unless accompanied by an adult.

Film Rating (13)

This film contains material that is not suitable for persons under the age of 13.

Film Rating (13)

This film contains material that is not suitable for persons under the age of 18

Film Rating (PG) Parental Guidance is advised

Children of 7 years and under require adult supervision.

Film Rating (10-12)

This film is not suitable for children under the age of 10. Children from the ages of 10-12 years may not be allowed to watch the film unless accompanied by an adult.

This film contains material that is not suitable for persons under the age of 16.
